Good for your Community
Northern Valley Industries, Inc. provides the following services:
OCCUPATIONAL EVALUATION PROGRAM
Evaluation measures the strengths and weaknesses of different kinds of workers and is an opportunity to explore various types of work and discover areas of interest and potential.
WORK ADJUSTMENT PROGRAM
A program for those having difficulty handling the demands of work and the social, psychological, and physical pressures associated with having a job. The goal of work adjustment is to help the individual develop good work qualities through practice. This employment skill development aids in moving into the regular labor market. Each person in Work Adjustment has a counselor who helps identify and develop strengths, define and address problem areas, and monitor progress toward becoming a capable and effective worker.
HUMAN SERVICES WORK PROGRAM
People with disabilities of mental or emotional illness, or developmental disabilities participate in this program. They are individuals experiencing difficulty handling competitive work pressures, but who can function at their own level of ability and stress tolerance in a commensurate wage work program.
The focus of this program is to provide a constructive work routine, which adds stability to the lives of people who might otherwise be in institutions or in the community without many resources for being active and productive. It also provides the opportunity for each person to earn wages and be self-sufficient to the level of their ability.
Commensurate wage employment reflects the beginnings of Northern Valley and continues to be a strongly viable and valuable service program for many individuals. Commensurate wage employment provides jobs for people who can’t work competitively but who can work at their individual level of ability without many problems.
