OCCUPATIONAL EVALUATION PROGRAM

The evaluation process is an important experience for people coming to Northern Valley. By measuring the strengths and weaknesses of individual workers for different kinds of work, the evaluator is able to pinpoint each worker’s unique limitations or aptitudes with regards to performing various jobs. This time is also an opportunity to explore the individual’s areas of interest and assess their potential in the job market. By completing a multitude of job samples and taking tests that measure skills and abilities, the evaluator is able to arrive at a feasible plan to meet the worker’s goals. An important aspect of evaluation is the encouragement each worker receives to shape his or her own ideas about work possibilities and obstacles. Since everyone in evaluation has a unique set of needs and aspirations, evaluators work with small groups to ensure high levels of individual attention.
